Mississippi Mack Suleski — wonder dog, explorer, and now official Tufts University affiliate — received his contractor ID on a Tuesday. His photo was taken. His name was printed. MACK Suleski, it read. Affiliate ID Card. Grade: A.

He wore it with the quiet dignity of a dog who had always known this day would come.

The assignment was straightforward: Tufts University needed Jumbo the elephant footprints installed on the sidewalk — a trail of iconic blue-and-white paw prints leading prospective students from the street to the admissions office. Someone needed to supervise. Someone with an eye for detail, a nose for quality, and the credentials to be on site.

Mack reported for duty.

The installation crew from SD&S Sign Design & Sales arrived with the prints stacked and ready. Mack conducted an immediate inspection — nose down, circling each footprint with the focused intensity of a seasoned quality control professional. The dimensions were assessed. The placement was evaluated. The crew was watched.

He had notes.

When the first Jumbo footprint was pressed to the pavement, Mack was there. When the second went down, Mack was there. He stood beside each installation, badge visible, expression serious, tail offering the occasional encouraging wag to the crew.
